Book Appearances The Menagerie

Squorp, formerly known as Leo[1], is a griffin cub. He is introduced in The Menagerie.

Appearance[]

Squorp is described as tawny-gold with huge feathers that, in sunlight, "glowed as if it were sprinkled with gold dust"[2]. He has huge dark eyes[3], a light colored beak[4], and a long, golden furry lion's tail[5]. His front half looks like "a giant golden eagle, wings, beak and all"[6], and the rest of his body is golden[7], soft[8], and furry with sharp and long lion claws on all four paws[9]. His wings are soft and golden. He is no bigger than a Labrador puppy[10].

Skills[]

Squorp can communicate with others telepathically, but he can only be heard by Logan Wilde due to his young age.[11]

Biography[]

The Menagerie[]

Logan notices Squorp's feathers in his room. Unknown to Logan, Squorp had flown into his room sometime while he was asleep, frightening Warrior, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and Purrsimmon.[12]

After Logan arrives back home from school, he goes to feed his mice. However, he discovers that the food container has been cleaned out and the lid screwed back on. Then, Logan finds Squorp under his bed. Logan finds that he could hear the griffins, something not many his age can do. He takes Squorp back to the Menagerie, where Zoe finds him and the griffin in the unicorn stables. Squorp is returned to Riff and Nira, the griffin cub's parents.[13]
